In a painting series, an artist will adhere to a cohesive theme and style. The theme may drift from its original intent, however, and the style may change during each painting’s progression. But collectively, these evolutions make for an interesting and unified body of work. Especially when emotions are tied in.

The Queen Anne’s Lace wildflower series evolved from a somewhat representational and individually dark beginning, style-wise, to a more unified, emotional, intuitive, uplifting and healing end. The themes explored were healing from loss of a loved one, life after death, and of motherhood. A solo exhibition of this series in September 2013 nearly sold out at the beautiful historic Parson House Gallery in Assonet, Massachusetts was titled “A Renewal of Spirit: Queen Anne’s Lace & Other Works.”

Each painting at the show was displayed according to its creation date. This allowed the viewer to take in the evolution of the series. To view the entire collection, please visit this link. Each Queen Anne’s Lace (or QAL) is categorized in sequence, with the first one at bottom of list.
